Rwanda Children Education Foundation started this ministry in 2012 by paying school fees for 10 students. We now pay school fees for 160 students, annually.
We discovered that some of our students were not going to school because they were too weak to walk there because of lack of food.
We expanded our ministry from just paying for school fees to distributing supplemental food. We also pay for low-cost government health insurance for each child.
In 2019-20 due to floods in Rwanda, 64 of our students’ families lost their rental homes. RCEF purchased land in the rural Bugesera District and built 13 safe and secure housing units.
Thanks to a Rotary Grant, we began to distribute micro-loans to eligible parents enabling them to start micro-businesses. We are so pleased with the creativity and success of these parents. Over 200 loans have been provided since this program began.
The people of Bugesera requested that we consider building a Community Worship Center. In 2022 construction began and the completed building was dedicated in December of 2023. We celebrated by baptizing 68 people!
We were able to construct a parsonage for the Church ‘s Pastor in February of 2022.
At present, we are in the process of building a Polyclinic or small hospital to serve the people in this rural part of Bugesera.
This healthcare facility is so needed as the nearest hospital is miles away and transportation is lacking. The sick need to walk many miles to get medical attention.

To sponsor a boarding school student (grades 7 -12) it is $975 per year or $325 each trimester.
