Furniture is Next – Housing is Near Completion

Rwanda Children Educational Foundation is building twelve units of safe and secure housing in the Bugesera District of Rwanda. These units are nearly complete. This project started in September and has progressed nicely. It will help meet one of the biggest needs of our families.

During the floods of 2019 and 2020, sixty-five of the RCEF families lost their homes. RCEF knew something had to be done. During September 2021 construction was underway.

Thanks to all our donors who helped purchase 8 acres of land and to build twelve housing units and one small building for an RCEF Office, we have completed this phase.

Our Rwandan contractor has built a system to capture rainwater off the roofs and store it in two large tanks. This water will be used for all but drinking. Water is precious in Rwanda, so we must use it carefully.

Our next step is to purchase some basic furniture for these twelve houses. We plan to buy a table, chairs, bed frames and mattresses with sheets and blankets for each housing unit.

Twelve families are being interviewed by Jeanine Mukarubega, RCEF Executive Director, and the RCEF staff. They are getting ready to move from Kigali to Bugesera. This is not an easy decision for them. It will take them from a familiar place to a new town. It’s a big step that offers hope for a better life.

Would you consider donating toward the purchase of these furnishings?

Your donations would be appreciated and would greatly bless these families who have so little.

Together we can make this happen!

If you would like to Donate by check, please make it out to RCEF and mail it to RCEF, 1386 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03246.

Thank you!
