See How RCEF has Grown

Rwanda Children Educational Foundation started with our Executive Director, Jeanine Mukarubega’s heart to help the very poor children of Rwanda. Jeanine’s friend then encouraged her to start a ministry to fulfill her heart’s desire and Jeanine wholeheartedly stepped up to the challenge.

Sponsorship: Jeanine personally paid the school fees of 10 children who were caught in the web of poverty. Soon her church here in the States joined in on this project, and then it expanded out to more friends, churches and other organizations.

Today, RCEF supports students by paying their school fees, supplies, uniforms, health insurance and supplemental food for their families.

Sewing School: In 2019, RCEF started a sewing school for mothers of our sponsored students. This is a six- month school taught by an experienced tailor that teaches the art of sewing (making shirts, blouses, skirts, pants, bags of all kinds). When they have finished, the graduates receive a certificate and a sewing machine. They are also qualified to receive a micro finance loan to start a business. We have completed two sewing classes enabling 18 mothers to make a living by sewing.

Micro Finance Loans: Thanks to a Rotary Global Grant, we have expanded by making micro-finance loans available to the parents of our students. These loans will help the parents to start or expand a business and thereby support their families.

RCEF’s Mission is to give hope and bright futures to vulnerable children and youth in Rwanda.
