Micro Finance Program Expands

On March 19, 2024, the Rwanda Children Education Foundation team lead by Executive Director Jeanine Mukarubega and the Sacco Bank officers met with 16 beneficiaries and distributed micro- loans amounting to $7,650.

During the meeting the beneficiaries heard about the importance of savings as well as managing their businesses.

Beneficiaries gave testimonies of how these loans have helped to improve their livelihoods.

Jean Sauveur Rusanganwa’s mother received a loan and used it to develop her work as a hairdresser. With her earnings she repaired their house, bought a piece of land and built a chicken coop to raise food for her family.

Shaloom Lyamuduhaye’s mother graduated from the RCEF sewing school. She had an illness that did not allow her to sew, but her recent microloans enabled her to open a shop where she sells shoes, bags, and other clothes.

Divine Uwamahoro’s mother testified that her microloans allowed her to  progress from being a street vendor to now sell food crops. She has managed to save enough money to buy 2 piglets to raise and sell.

RCEF is thankful for the Rotary Global Grant that has made this poverty fighting micro-loan program possible in Rwanda.

Please consider giving a gift to help us expand our fund by making more loans available to deserving families.
